Eczema is used to refer to a number of skin conditions that shows as red irritated dry or fluid filled bumps on skin. Some kids are genetically inclined to get eczema. It can also be caused by allergens in food. Children that have the condition will often have family members with asthma or other allergies.
Symptoms of childhood eczema normally appear before the age of five(5) and for a lot of them, will be over it before they turn teenagers, but it can be a frustrating for the parents to see the patches and redness on the skin and some can cause itching and discomfort to the child. The patches can occur on any part of the skin but most especially on the bends of the elbow, behind the knees, on the back of the wrists and ankles, cheeks, forehead and scalp. Stress in children can lead to flare-ups.

Treatments will normally consist of a corticosteroid cream to apply very lightly or sparingly and moisturizing creams or ointments, applied in abundant quantities and frequently.
On some occasions antibiotics will be prescribed if there are signs of skin infection.
